Geometry

Students will conduct hands-on activities and discover geometric relationships using inductive reasoning. Deductive reasoning will be developed through the study of formal geometric proofs. Topics include the study of undefined terms, perpendicular and parallel lines, angles, parallels, congruent triangles, triangles and inequalities, special quadrilaterals, similar triangles and proportion, right triangles, polygons, circles, transformations, right triangle trigonometry area and volume, coordinate geometry, and the postulates and theorems related to each topic. Emphasis will be placed on the practical applications of geometric definitions, postulates, theorems, and corollaries.

Homework will be assigned almost daily. It will be collected the next day. Homework assignments will be checked several times per week. You must finish the entire assignment to receive full credit. “Skipped” questions are unacceptable. You must make an honest attempt and show effort that you have worked at problems you find difficult. Your work must be neat, organized, readable, and in PENCIL.  You should include as much work as possible to justify your answer.  Your final answer should be circled if possible. Homework can be turned in late for 25% off for each day late.

(Ex. Homework turned in 1 day late has a maximum score of 75%).
